New NSSRA Adult Day Program Finds A Home

February 19, 2015: Leisure In Full Effect (LIFE), a new adult day program for northern suburban residents with disabilities, is coming to Glencoe. This week both Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association (NSSRA) Board of Directors and Glencoe Park District Board of Commissioners approved an Interagency Cooperation Agreement effectively making Glencoe’s Takiff Center the new home for NSSRA’s LIFE program. The agreement, passed by Glencoe on Tuesday, February 17 and NSSRA on Thursday, February 19, allows Glencoe Park District to license space for the program to NSSRA. Continue…

September 2, 2014: The Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association — also known as NSSRA — remains in the hunt for new headquarters after a promising option in Northbrook fell through recently. The organization, which provides recreation opportunities for people with disabilities in 10 park districts and three municipalities on the North Shore, announced last summer that it was looking for new digs. June 19, 2014: The Northbrook Park District may share space with the Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association if voters approve the idea for converting a local Five Seasons Sports Club into a community recreation center, officials say. Park district officials say they still are gathering input from the community on the plan to pay about $20.3 million for the 115,000-square-foot facility at 1300 Techny Road and the 17 acres of land on which it sits.
