Recreational Therapy Month Staff Spotlight – Mel Robson

Mel Robson

As National Recreational Therapy month continues, we celebrate our incredible staff. Today, meet Mel Robson!

You would be hard-pressed to find someone as dedicated to special recreation as Mel. Mel is currently a Superintendent at NSSRA but has had an active role in all facets of the organization over her 26-year career. Her commitment to NSSRA and all participants is most noticeable through her social connections but is quite apparent when you see the accolades in her office. According to Mel, one trophy brings back a favorite memory “One of my favorite memories is from coaching volleyball in 1997. Our team made it to the Special Olympics State Tournament, and we were paired up with then-rival WDSRA for the championship game. We battled back and forth throughout the game, and we ended up winning by two points.” This story is just one of her many favorites throughout her storied career.

Mel also has a vibrant life away from the office. She is a proud mother of two kids, two dogs, and two cats; she loves reading and is a huge Packer fan! Her family is also quite adventurous as they often go camping, including hiking and kayaking.

Thank you, Mel, for the joy you bring to NSSRA and all of the participants throughout the years!
