Recreational Therapy Month Staff Spotlight – Meggan Davies

National Recreational Therapy month continues as we celebrate all month long and learn more about our incredible staff. Today, we are eager to spotlight Meggan Davies!

Meggan was born and raised in Wisconsin (Go Pack Go) and has always had a passion for the outdoors. Meggan continues to enjoy nature with her husband and two daughters with frequent trips to the Chicago Botanical Gardens and forest preserves in the Chicagoland area!

Meggan’s passion for recreational therapy was sparked at a young age from numerous unforgettable memories with her aunt with disabilities. It is the same joy her aunt showed integrated into the community that Meggan hopes to bring to all of the participants at NSSRA. Most of Meggan’s experiences before NSSRA were in clinical-based settings ranging from an inpatient behavioral health unit to a residential treatment facility for children and adolescents with severe emotional, mental and behavioral health challenges. NSSRA was Meggan’s first exposure to community-based recreation, and she hasn’t looked back!

We asked Meggan about her favorite memory with NSSRA. She was enthusiastic about telling us about coaching the Gators to state in 2011 and the unforgettable NSSRA trips, including the Adaptive Sports Center in Crested Butte, Colorado.

We want to thank Meggan for her 11 years of dedication to providing community-based recreation for everyone.
