NSSRA’s ELA Program Hosts the Ninth Annual Fun Run & Walk

Joined by peers from six other special recreation associations (SRAs), NSSRA’s Enriched Lifestyles for Adults (ELA) and members of the community gathered by the starting line to exercise and “run for the weekend!”

In its ninth year, the ELA Fun Run & Walk was created and planned by ELA participants with the help of NSSRA staff. The ELA Program is a year-round day program for individuals with disabilities 22 years and older.

ELA participants invited their friends and families to join them. They worked hard on creating signs for other SRA’s and put together goodie bags and medals.
Each participant was awarded a medal at the event’s end and concluded the day by eating lunch together in the park.

Also attending the event were representatives from Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District and volunteers from Twin Brook Capital Partners. They gave their time to pass out prizes, help at events, and encourage runners throughout the morning.
