The Chicago Botanic Garden has invited NSSRA families to share their perspectives and help shape the future of accessibility at the Garden. They are currently completing a comprehensive accessibility audit, to ensure that visitors of all abilities can enjoy their beautiful grounds. To gather input, the Garden is partnering with The W-T Group, LLC (WTG) Accessibility Practice.
Two listening sessions are being held on Wednesday, February 12, 2024, in the Pullman Room at the Regenstein Center (1000 Lake Cook Rd., Glencoe, IL):
- 11:00 a.m.
- 6:00 p.m.
During these sessions, WTG Accessibility Practice will:
- Provide an overview of ADA requirements for existing parks and facilities.
- Discuss some factors other recreational organizations have considered in setting priorities.
- Share some images of what the access audit teams saw at Chicago Botanic Garden sites.
- Most importantly, there will be time for the audience to share information about your access priorities, helping to shape the accessibility action plan.
Parking and admission fees will be waived—just let the Gatehouse and ticketing desk know you’re there for the “Accessibility Listening Session.”
To RSVP or if you have questions, please contact Leslie Albrecht at (847) 242-6409 or (708) 533-1571 (cell) or via email at lalbrecht@chicagobotanic.org. A sign language interpreter will be present at both sessions.
