NSSRA’s ELA Program Invites the Community to Join In for Their Fifth Annual 5K Fun Run and Walk
May 10, 2018: Participants in NSSRA’s Enriched Lifestyles for Adults (ELA) Program are gearing up for their fifth annual Fun Run and Walk on Friday, May 18. Last year’s Fun Run was rained out by a torrential downpour, so participants have fingers crossed for blue skies and sunshine this time around.

May 7, 2018: Three of the individuals served by the NSSRA — Thomas Jachtorowycz, of Glenview; Matt Rubin, of Lake Bluff; and James Gromoshak, of Highwood — were among the Shining Stars banquet luminaries. Jachtorowycz, 11, was the recipient of the Youth Participant of the Year Award; Rubin, 26, received the Adult Participant of the Year Award; and Gromoshak earned the Gator Athlete of the Year Award.

April 13, 2018: Thomas Jachtorowycz of Glenview, now 11, has been participating in NSSRA programs since the age of four. Set to receive the Youth Participant of the Year award at next week’s banquet, during the last seven years Jacktorowycz has played at Kids Club, bowled at Brunswick Zone, swam at Park Center and traveled to Lake Geneva for a weekend of fun and adventure with other NSSRA participants.

April 12, 2018: Audiences were delighted over the weekend at Bright Star Theatre Company’s performances of “Doo-Wop Red Riding Hood”. Starring twelve actors with disabilities and their volunteer Creative Companions, rehearsals for the show began last September and culminated with performances at Northbrook Theatre last weekend.

Northbrook Park District plans to build new activity center | Northbrook Star
December 19, 2017: The Northbrook Park District will begin three major capital projects in 2018 that officials hope to complete by 2022. Among the projects will be a new activity center at Techny Prairie Park and Fields. The park district adopted a Comprehensive Master Plan in February after a year-long process that identified eight goals for the district, said Executive Director Molly Hamer.
