Ahka Locka Ching! NSSRA once again will fly to Camp Wigwam on Bear Lake in Waterford, Maine this summer. This camp offers exciting opportunities including swimming, tubing, fishing, riding the speed boat on the beautiful Bear Lake and completing the challenging yet rewarding hike up Hawk Mountain. We will challenge ourselves on the climbing wall and in archery, and spend time together singing around the campfire and making s’mores! We will also venture outside of Camp Wigwam to watch a baseball game in Portland, Maine, go blueberry picking and hang out at the beach! The camp is accredited by the American Camping Association, and NSSRA has been taking groups to Maine for over forty years. Camp Wigwam is an unforgettable experience and a great opportunity to go on an adventure, making new friends and new memories!

Eligibility: Participants must be able to meet all general trip expectations. Participants are expected to carry out all activities of daily living independently. Minimal staff guidance and prompting is provided to remind participants of activities of daily living. Participants must be independent for periods of time where staff supervision and assistance is not available including overnight sleeping, down time, personal care and hygiene. This trip includes activities such as hiking, boating, rock climbing and will require significant walking for showering, eating meals and participating in activities. This trip is not recommended for anyone who tires easily when walking. In addition, the use of cell phones and tablets is limited to a few hours during the day.

New participants must attend a short overnight trip prior to the registration deadline for Camp Wigwam for NSSRA staff to assess readiness for this trip.

Housing: The group will be staying at Camp Wigwam in cabins with rooms that sleep between two and five individuals at one time; cabins have indoor bathrooms. Beds are single, twins and twin bunk beds. Participants will share a cabin with peers of the same gender. Staff will not be present in any cabins overnight. To arrange for a single cabin, if available, please contact Katie James by the registration deadline.

A family information meeting will be held one week before the trip.
