Northbrook – March 20, 2017 – Participants in Northbrook’s Bright Star Theatre Company are in their final weeks of preparation for April’s performances of “Shake With A Zombie.” Starring ten actors with disabilities and their volunteer “Creative Companions,” rehearsals began last September. The long-awaited performances are taking place at Northbrook Theatre on Saturday, April 8 at 5:00 pm and Sunday, April 9 at 1:00 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 online and $12 at the door.

The production of “Shake with a Zombie: A One-Act Musical Comedy!” centers on Pat’s Luncheonette, “Home of the Exotic Milkshakes,” and the hangout for high school students after school. Hilarity abounds when Molo, a rockchomping alien, visits Pat’s with plans to take over the world by turning the kids into zombies. Pat saves the day and the kids in this upbeat show for all ages. “Our actors are channeling their inner zombies,” said Director Julie Gibson Lay. “See them ‘come alive’ in this zany, one-act musical comedy!”

In its sixth year, Bright Star Theatre Company is a program produced by Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association (NSSRA) in partnership with Northbrook Park District. Meeting weekly from September to April, the experience combines theatre games, movement exercises and musical training for participants ages 11 – 22 who work with Northbrook Park District Theatre staff to put on a professional production.
